Current classes running at my studio:

Monday afternoon 1:00 - 4:00PM

Oil Still life painting class, we explore the different possibilities of Oils and its application to start and finish a painting. Each week has a new still life with its own challenges.

Tuesday afternoon 1:00 - 4:00PM

Oil landscape painting class. During the summer we will try to be outdoor as much as possible - painting pleine air. In case of rain we will be in the studio using a photograph or sketch you made (bring your own) to paint from, we explore how to paint rather than copy a photo with paint.  Explore how to respond to the details visible in a photograph, that may or may not be necessary when painting. How do you look at your photograph or sketch from a painter's perspective, is it okay, or maybe even necessary to make alterations to make a painting work better? You can work on the same piece for a few classes or start a new one every week.

Students are required to bring the following to class:

• sketchbook or pad & pencil
• pre-stretched canvas or painting boards, no larger than 12x18” - no smaller than 8x10”
• variety of brushes - flat, round, small, big...
• palette, rags, Odorless solvents
• oil paints in the following colours: Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow light (lemon yellow), Ocre, Rose Madder (Permanent Rose), Ultramarine or Prussian Blue, Cerelean Blue (Manganese blue), and Burnt Umber.

Classes in my studio are $25.00 per class or $160 for a term of 8 classes. (Missed classes can be tagged on at the back, within the season). They are suitable for beginners and for those 14 years or older.

If you want to sign up for either of these classes, please send me an email at jeanette@obbink.ca

Summer - Paddle and Paint

Spend a day on the Grand, we will canoe down from Paris to Brant Park (generally a 2 to 3 hour trip) and stop halfway to paint at one of the beautiful spots along the way. Bring your own gear, paints, sun protection and bugspray. Choice of medium is yours. We leave at 8:30 am and will be back around 4:00-ish pm. Grand Experiences takes care of getting our gear to where we stop to paint and back again. If working in Oil, make sure you have a way of transporting the wet painting safely back.

Price $129 - canoes are rented from Grand Experiences, Paris, Ontario and you can book this package through them, or contact Jeanette at (519) 771-1383.

If you just want to come along for the ride, that's fine too, cost is $79 and you'll roughly have a two hour break while the others paint. You could always bring some fishing gear along and become the subject of the painting... the Grand is known for a wide range of fish, make sure to have a fishing license. Lunch is provided for all.
